Broadway Dancer Marcus Bellamy Charged With Murder

Dancer Marcus Bellamy, who worked as dance captain for the Broadway musical “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark,” has been charged with the murder of his boyfriend, 27-year-old Bernardo Almonte.

An unnamed source said Bellamy strangled Almonte in their W. 174th St. home in Morris Heights, Bronx last Friday, according tothe New York Daily News. It was also reported that Almonte was found bleeding face-down from a strike to the head around 4:15 p.m. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

On his Facebook page, Bellamy wrote a series of cryptic posts, appearing to confess to the murder.

“Forgive me,” Bellamy wrote. “I did it because I love you. I love you all. I loved him also. He told me love and hate are the same emotion. Forgive me. I know not what I do. I did it for love. For god [sic]. On high.”

It was also reported that following the crime, Bellamy fled his apartment and told a neighbor that he had killed Almonte. Bellamy was later arrested at the scene, and faces murder and manslaughter charges.

In addition to his work on “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark,” Bellamy was also involved with the Broadway musical “Tarzan.” He was also seen in small roles on the TV show “Smash” and the 2007 Julie Taymor film “Across the Universe.”
