Police are urging people not to approach a prisoner who has gone on the run from a jail on the Isle of Sheppey.

Paul Stone, 36, from the Medway area went missing from HMP Standford Hill in Easthchurch sometime between 8am and 12.15pm on Monday.

The category D open prison holds many inmates coming to the end of their sentence.

Stone is described as 5ft 8ins, with a slim build, blue eyes and light brown hair.

Police say anyone who sees him, or has any information about his whereabouts, should dial 999.

He is the third inmate to have escaped from Standford Hill in the space of a week. On 2 January 50-year-old Anthony Hogan from south London and Nicky Gale, 29 from Dartford both vanished from the jail.

Police say they are not ruling out the possibility the men may have gone on the run together.
